Hi there, welcome to the message boards. They are a fantastic source of knowledge and comfort.
In your question do you mean that DS is having something to eat and then going straight to sleep so is not effectively getting much A time?

When our DD was that age she was only usually up for about 45 - 1hr max and that pretty much just included her being feed and burped (which took about 20mins!) and then a nappy change and maybe a few toys etc.
At this young age bubs don't necessarily need to be playing with loads of toys just looking around and getting used to the environment and hearing, seeing and smelling all the new sites is enough of a 'play-time' for them. So your little one might be ready to go back to bed after a feed, chat and nappy change.

If you post your daily routine I am sure the forum moderators will be able to help you out much more.
Enjoy

Hi,
I have the same problem with my son who is 5 weeks old.  He is alert in the morning and at 4am after feeds but otherwise sleeps through most feeds and activity time.  I have to work quite hard to get him to eat a full feed and it takes an hour at least usually.  He does sleep well for naps and at night which is a bonus.  Is this like your son?  I thought oh it's because he is so new but now 5 weeks and very little change from newborn.  We have him on a routine but i keep it a little flexible because if i can get him awake for a feed it is so much easier.  I don't want to let him sleep as much as he wants during the day as i'm worried it will affect nightiime sleep.

He does tolerate being walked around and looking out the windows for A time but that is about it.  Maybe a minute of tummy time or under playgym if i'm lucky.  I usually just walk him around the house and do chores for maybe 15 mins and try not to worry as i guess he really needs sleep more than A at this stage.

I"ll keep an eye on this and see what others say.
