Too Much Naptime? Is it even possible?
« on: August 09, 2008, 18:49:07 pm »
Is it possible to have too much nap time during the day for a 3-4 month old, which then could lead to frequent evening and night waking? Maybe causing them not to be as tired or able to settle? In too much, I mean 6 1/2 hrs split into 4 naps, and the first three are all about 2 hrs.

It sounds weird, especially when everyone says that too little sleep causes that problem. Let me hear your opinions or experiences!

hi

yes i it's possible...especially in times of transition like to a 3 to 4 hour EASY when they're ready for more A time.

can you post your routine?  how old is he exactly?

is he on a 4 hour EASY yet or still a 3 hour EASY?  a nap of longer than 2 hours can rob from nighttime sleep, or if he's sleeping too long and sleeping through his feeds he may be waking at night hungry because he hasn't eaten enough during the day.  on a 3 hour EASY his naps shouldn't be longer than 1.5 hours.

does he fall asleep independently?

post your routine, it may be time for a tweak.

Thanks for your response. Actually I posted our routine and main trouble on the general sleep board, but thought I would ask about the nap time here. I'll give you the link, or I can repost it here also if you think it will help. I haven't got any reply yet from it.

But she's 3 months/15 weeks and on a 3 hr easy. I've been trying to stretch her A time to 1hr 10-20min, as she could easily go down after an hour. Thanks for the help ahead of time!
