What nap is dropped when going from two to one?
« on: August 07, 2008, 22:22:47 pm »
I have an 8 1/2month old and while I don't think she's ready to drop a nap just yet she seems to be trying to. I'm just curious which nap they drop first so I can be more sure of what her plan is!  If she's just trying to get away with not taking a nap or if she really doesn't need two anymore.  Kinda confused, thanks for the help :)

hi
here's a link to help figure it out:

http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=95670.0

some babies do better with taking a long morning nap and short pm nap and others a short am nap and long pm nap.  either way, figure out which nap she usually does better with and let that one be as long as she wants while you limit the other one.  this means you'll have to wake her up from one of the naps after as little as 20 min to maybe an hour.  the long nap then moves closer and closer to 1ish (either pushing it later from the morning or moving it earlier from the afternoon) and the other one disappears.

Thanks, She woke up really early this morning because of her refusal yesterday afternoon so I'm going to wait a little longer to see if it was a one time thing or if it actually is a sign that she's getting ready to drop. I love that link, thanks! :)

welcome  :)

you don't have to be on 1 nap or on 2 naps.  for the last 6 weeks once a week my Lo does a 1 nap day, then it seems to take her a week of 2 naps to recover from it then she does a 1 nap day again.  as long as you're going with what's best for your Lo and watching ehr cues you'll be fine.
