Is my lo ready for 2-1 transition
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:55:31 am »
HI there

my lo is a week off 10 mths old. He is an angel/textbook baby. On a few occasions recently he has resisted his afternoon nap, though not every day.  Does this mean he is ready to transition or should I wait until he is refusing the nap consistently every day?  I can get him to sleep if we are in the car though tis may be AP??

TIA

Sharon

Could you post your current routine for us?

our day looked like this:

6.30 awake and bf
7.30 solids
9.30 nap for 1.5 hrs
11.00 awake and bf
12.00 solids
2.30 nap for 1.5 hrs
4.00 awake and bf
6.30 bath etc
7.00 bed  - asleep till morning

As I said the afternoon nap now sometimes doesnt happen. I have read the posts about how to transition.  But as he isnt refusing pm nap every day, is he ready for this?  or should I wait until he refues every day consistently iykwim??

I would still try for that 2nd nap....once he starts refusing it every day, you can do one of two things:  You can shorten his first nap so he'll be more tired for the 2nd or you can just push his A time in the morning until it reaches 12 or 1 pm.
