Eating less during day but sleeping longer at night- ok??
« on: July 30, 2008, 06:42:11 am »
Hi,
past few days my lo has consumed less then his "usual" amount of milk during the day. However has slept 7-8hrs at night. His last feed is about 7.30, he is asleep at 8.30 then he wakes about 3.30-5am
We put 140ml (sorry dont know oz) in his bottle and at some feeds he will eat it all & at others maybe 100ml. By his night sleep he has had about aprox 600mls then at the early morning feed he has about 120mls. He is 8wks old & weighs 5kg (birth weight was 7lb7oz)
I know I shouldnt complain with this, but as I read elsewhere today, once you;re onto a good thing you want to figure out what it is thats working and add onto it. So wonder if trying to encourage him to eat more during the day will push the 3.30-5am waking out a bit further.

Thanks

At 8wks my DD was doing 5X150mls which included a 4-5am feed so you are doing great.

hiya,
me again on this one. Just feel i need to double check on the less food = longer night sleep.
lo had 595ml yesterday & sleep from 8.20pm-6.45am. naps were sporadic. morning naps were short (OT?) but got back on track by afternoon/evening. He had 6hrs day sleep. not sure if this should go to different board?? but could it be a napping problem causing the less food & more night sleep? He's eating less at each feed some days more on others. there is no real consistency. after yesterday this morning he had 140-150ml which is normal - so wasnt like excessively hungry. He would start crying out if he was hungry during night wouldnt he??
dont know if theres short napping causing a prob with his less eating or if its a medical thing - as he spills alot & can have wind problems.
whats your thoughts?
