I introduced it eventually but not the iron fortified one because I was worried about constipation. She now has it every morning for breakfast. IMO I think sometimes we can worry too much about this whole iron thing when as Emma said they get plenty from milk and other places. It's like how some HW are obsessed with giving them loads of meat for iron reasons. Just do what you're comfortable with, for us I wanted to start on something natural ie fruit or veg rather than a grain, we had eczema issues so I wanted something that would be easy for her to digest. Vege wise good sources of iron are of the dark green variety. Although I give her meat now I also put finely chopped spinach and brocoli through the vege I make her.
If you're worried about iron I was told an easy way to check is pull down their bottom eyelid if its nice and red it means they're ok iron wise if its pale (similar to their face colour) they are low but if they're on formula this has iron in it and if they are BF they will be getting your iron.
