When to get rid of 4th nap (catnap)
« on: September 29, 2008, 13:17:24 pm »
I'm sure this has been discussed, but I did a search and didn't find a clear answer.  My son is 8 weeks old and on 3 hr easy.  Now that I've got naps under control they range from 1-2 hours each plus a 30-45 minute catnap in the evening.  All of his naps used to be 30-45 minutes, but I've decided to let him sleep on his belly these past few days and that's what extended the naps.  But now in the evening he doesn't seem tired at bedtime.  Should I drop the catnap?  I just don't think he can be awake and happy during that last stretch of evening without it, but I don't want to make bedtime later.  When is the catnap supposed to go?  Thanks.

Typically the catnap goes when he can handle 3 hours of A time, at 6-7 months.  You're a ways off yet.  Your next transition will be to a 3.5 or 4 hour EASY at about 4 months.

HTH! :)

Yikes, ok, I guess I need to readjust things another way somehow - thanks!
