Is it normal?
« on: October 04, 2008, 08:23:10 am »
Is it normal to nearly always have to wake up bub from her naps?  She's almost 12 wks.  I had her on 3 hr easy, then went to 3.5hrs a few weeks ago, but still had to wake her up. So now I"m trying 4 hours and STILL have to wake her!  She's doing 1.5 - 1.75 hrs A time.  She's really hard to get to sleep at night, so wondering if she's sleeping too much in the day.

How is she sleeping at night? Is she waking up a lot or waking early? Those would be signs that she's getting too much day sleep. If she's just hard to get down but then sleeps fine, I would say try extending that final A time a bit.

She only sleeps 4 hours at a time.  She used to do 6-7 hours.

Is she taking a feed when she wakes at night or will she fall back to sleep without one? How many of hours total day sleep is she getting? You could try cutting her naps back a little. At 12 weeks you should be shooting for at least 2x1.5-2 hour naps and a 45 minute cat nap.

Thanks.  I always feed her when she wakes.  She usually only wakes once a night, but last night it was twice, but she did go back to sleep quickly this time.

I've put her back on a 3 hour easy and we'll see how we go from there.  I think I will go by her A time - when she can stay awake a bit more than 1.5 hours, I'll let her sleep a bit over the 3 hour mark until we get to a 3.5 hr easy.
