help please!!!!!
« on: October 06, 2008, 23:38:31 pm »
Not sure if I am doing this right.  This is my first time on this website.  I have read the book and still have no change in my 7 month olds napping patterns.  He sleeps every 2 hours but only for 30 minutes.  I have made sure not to overstimulate, he is not hungry, however probably overtired because he isn't getting enough nap time.  He wakes up happy and laughing.  I try to do the awake to sleep thing but he only wants to laugh and play.  He sleeps 12 hours every night , and always goes down well.  Even for naps.  He just won't stay asleep.  please help

WOW you must be so tired, catnapping sucks ::). Do you try to resettle him with Pick up put down, What does your normal day look like ??  Have you tried to keep a little diary of your days and what your bub is doing RE tired signs, feeds etc.? Is he having solids?
Most 7 mth old can do around 2.5-3hours A time, you might like to try extending that 15 mins every few days, its tricky cause 30min (not 45) can mean over tired too.
If he puts himself to sleep and sleeps 12hours at night try to focus on that to get you though, you must be doing a great job to get that  ;D.
Got to go mine just woke after 25 mins ??? you are not alone...............

Hi emfisk, and welcome to the BW community.  Most babies that are the same age as your LO are getting 2.75-3hrs of A time, so I think what is happening is that he's UT for the first nap, that ends up being short, and then he's OT for the rest of the day.  I agree with PP that he needs more A time, and adding 15 minutes every few days is the best way to get there.

HTH! :)
