I have noticed that my LO is 3 mo and does the Mentra cry I always wait till I hear her cry esclate, she never falls back asleep she always goes to a harder cry (before I go in), she has a paci and I will be taking that away soon as soon as I get her on a regular routine and straigten out her feeding.... was just wondering why she maybe doing this.

A mantra cry is what your Lo will use to self-sooth.  It is the "waawaa" sound and not a "real" cry.  We don't go in on a mantra but if the cry escalates you go in and attend to your Lo

She is probably going from mantra to real cry because she hasn't figured out her own self soothing technique. Basically she needs to make that transition from mantra to soothing herself. She probably won't do this until you wean her from the paci so she can learn a new technique of soothing (sucking fingers, rubbing something, etc.).

My 3 month old does this too, although lately she has sometimes dropped off to sleep from the mantra cry without it escalating to a full cry.  I think she must just be learning to self-soothe.

well I think very soon I will take her off the paci she has a slight reflux so I have to wait till that is under control but however she is starting to find her hand and soothe herself but she is not quite use to it and still wants her paci.  I don't think it will be long now till she gets use to it.  She is soothing herself during the day, which is a step in the right direction.

Just to double check the mentra cry sounds like mmmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmm?
