Activity 7.00pm till 11.00pm? and 4am wakings
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:53:43 am »
Hi, my lo is 11 weeks old, is on a four hour feeding schedule and has dropped his night feed (great!!)

According to the book he should be getting 1.5hour naps x 3 times a day, which is working - following his 7am/11am/3pm feeds.  It also says he should be having eight hours sleep a night - presumably from 11pm till 7am.

It doesn't really say anywhere what happens between 7.30/ 8pm and 11.pm.  If he sleeps (which he wants to) and then dream feeds then presumably the eight hours sleep happens from 7.30pm / 8ish till 4.00am, which means a 4am wakeup.

My lo is constantly waking up at 4.00am but isn't hungry, so we've started waking him up for an hour and a half between 9pm and 10.30pm and then feed and bed hoping that he would go from 11pm till 7am - although i suspect this is a bad habit we are getting into AND he's still fussing between 3.30/4am and 5.30am - crying out / settling and then ten - twenty minutes later going again and again and again.....and then finally manages to drop off till around 7am.

He won't keep a dummy in and i've been trying sushpat but even after 20 mins this doesn't seem to be working.

Do you think his 4am wake up is habit? if so does wake to sleep really work?

Any advice, reassurance etc greatly received as my dh (who is fab at helping) is going away for five nights and i also having a toddler who has just started demanding a poo at 5am!!
