Woohoo! Great news! ;D How old is your LO again?? I will look forward to the day when we can go out for dinner too ;D

We are having all sorts of weird stuff going on with Ethan at the moment. His morning nap is good, then his afternoon one is always a bit dodgy. Then if I manage to get him down for his catnap it gives him too much energy and he won't sleep until his usual 2.5 hours have elapsed! I actually think he can handle a longer A time at the end of the day, contrary to received wisdom... he was awake from 3.10 today, refused his catnap, and then was asleep at 7.20 after an early dinner (within 20 mins with no fuss!) That makes 4 HOURS final A time, but he hasn't woken up since he went to bed which you'd expect with an OT baby, wouldn't you...

Oops, off-topic post ;D

She is 8.5 months - and boy, did I make the most of it - in fact, so much so, we went out twice!!!! Plus, I even treated myself to chocolate souffle too - and, yes, that was twice as well!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We are still on 3 naps a day sometimes - take today for example, streaming cold so v. tired so I've decided to pack in as much sleep as possible. We flew back yesterday so she missed her morning and lunchtime nap - we did manage to get her to sleep on the plane but only for 40mins  :(

I've learnt recently to just go with whatever your baby is telling you - yes, my LO can't do that much A time before bed, but some days she can. So if Ethan prefers longer A time before bed and still settles / sleeps well, who cares!?! Anything for an easy (!!!) life I say  ;D

You deserve that chocolate souffle, woman! (Well, at least that's what I would be telling myself, LOL!)

I agree that going with your LO's cues is definitely the way to go, except it's difficult when you can't read them :( I think Ethan and I have some getting back on track to do at the moment. It's mostly been my DH who's been taking care of him for the past few days (I was preparing for an interview on Monday - I got the job!! ;D), and he always gets more leeway with his dad... I think a post on the naps board is in order later today as it's probably that that's at the root of all this!

I need to meet up with my new line manager to discuss a starting date, but currently the plan is still to go back at the end of February (having taken 9 months off). I'm not looking forward to going back either as I know it will be really difficult to leave Ethan :( but I'm also excited about the new job so that will help. I think the transition back is always hard :(

Yes, not looking forward to it myself either.

Kinda feel like the new girl again!
Been there 10 years but since i left on maternity leave, they have relocated so I know far less people and also know none of the systems or anything! Going to feel really strange rocking up on Monday morning!

Oopsey... this is really off-topic isn't it!

It'll take time to get re-acclimatised but you'll be fine! (((hugs)))

It's ok, we can go off-topic; it's my thread ;D

Just a quick update. We are now out in Singapore - arrived on Thursday evening. He travelled really well -hardly any crying hurrah!- apart from not getting a great deal of sleep. We did of course do some APing out of necessity (e.g. having to hold him to sleep, because the seatbelt sign was on and we couldn't put him into the bassinet. No nursing to sleep though).

First night was a bit of a nightmare - he went down really easy at his usual bedtime but was then up an hour later, down, up, down, up, cry cry cry, decide it's not time to sleep but time to play gurgle gurgle hee :P Finally got him to bed again at after 1am, and he was up another couple of times before waking at 6am, at which point we started the day. Naps went really well but he fell asleep in the car at 6pm on the way back from running errands, and was so tired he actually let us transfer him to his cot without waking up. But then he was up at 7.30 and we had multiple NWs again - almost as if he was on a nap schedule throughout the night.

But yesterday we were almost back to normal :) He had all his naps in the car because of us being out and about, and went down for the night easily again - and really woke only to feed, and resettled very quickly :)

So this morning I thought we were nearly back on track!

Unfortunately he's just come down with his first illness ever :( He was unusually difficult to wake this morning, and then although he fed pretty well, he was very quiet and lethargic. Then he got febrile, started coughing and proceeded to throw up twice :( So I bathed him and put him to the breast again, and he suckled for a little while and then fell asleep.

So I guess all bets are out the window now while I nurse my little one back to full health!

Hope the flight home goes as well!!!

Know what you mean about the odd AP! Have resorted to some myself this week - had a complete nightmare few nights with NWs galore!!!!

Thanks both :) After a couple of wakeups between 6.50pm (bedtime) and midnight, a medicated DS slept from 1.30 to 7.15am this morning, so both DH and I got some good sleep (though the torrential downpour did wake me up :P) He's stopped throwing up and his temperature is down so it's looking good. He's not smiling yet though and is still very tired (to be expected) so was up for only an hour this morning for food, medicine, bath and cuddle before falling asleep again. I think we'll be fine soon though :)
