Need help with changing Nap and eating schedule
« on: December 02, 2008, 19:30:05 pm »
My LO is 8 months and 1 week old. He is still taking 3 naps in a day. I can push his scheudle to move to 2 naps in a day, but that way he goes to bed a little early and misses his last feeding

This is current schdule

7:30/8 am: Bottle Feed 6 oz
8:30 am:bath
9 am: 4 tbsp ceral + 1 stage 2 jar fruit
10:00 am: 1 to 1.5 hr nap
12:00 pm: Bottle feed 6 oz
1:00 pm: lunch, some home made veggies + fruit
2:00 pm: 2nd nap of the day, 1 to 1.5 hrs
4:00 pm: Bottle feed 6 oz
5:00 pm: Dinner
6:30 pm: Short nap 30 to 45 min
8:00 pm: Last bottle
9:00 pm: goto bed

If I push his first nap from 10 to 10:30 and his 2nd nap by 1/2 hr too, he goes to bed without his last 4th bottle of the day.

So I am wondering if its time to also move from 4 bottles to 3 bottles?

Thanks,
Pooja

Hi!

I'm not quite sure why you think he would miss out on his 4th bottle. The day would look something like this:

8:00 - wake and bottle
9:00 - solids
10:30 - nap 1.5 hours
12:00 - wake and bottle
1:30 - solids
2:30 - nap 1.5 hours
4:00 - wake and bottle
5:00 - solids
8:00 - bedtime and bottle

Would something like that work for you? Judging on the length of his naps, it seems he's ready to drop the 3rd nap and have longer A times.

Thank you for taking time and responding.

This is his schedule if I try to give him 2 naps

8:00 - wake and bottle
9:00 - solids
10:30 - nap 1.5 hours
12:00 - wake and bottle
1:30 - solids
3:30 - nap 1.5 hours
5:00 - wake and bottle
6:30 - solids
8:00 - bedtime and bottle

He does not drink immediately after he wakes up. takes 20 to 30 min after he wakes up for him to get in mood of drinking milk.

Also after getting up at around noon from first nap, he is not ready to take naother nap at 2:30, I need to move that to 3/3:30

So now he gets his milk at 5/5:30 pm and solids after an hour 6:30 pm.

By his bbedtime, he is not hungry at all, and does not like to be fed.

Should I try to give his milk before his second nap? At 3:30?

Thanks,
Pooja

Yeah, I would try to feed him before that second nap and then do solids when he wakes up. So he would have a bottle around 3:15, solids around 5:00 and then he may need a little "milk snack" to make it until his bedtime bottle. If you run into problems with his feeding you'll get some excellent help in either the solids forum or bottle/bm forum. His naps would be perfect though if you went down to 2.

9 am: 4 tbsp cereal + 1 stage 2 jar fruit
10:30 am: 1.5 hr to 2 hr nap
1:00 pm: Bottle feed 6 oz
2:00 pm: lunch, some home made veggies + fruit
3:30 pm: 2nd nap of the day, 1.5 hr to 2 hrs
5:30/6:00 pm: Bottle feed 6 oz
7:30 pm: Dinner
9:00 pm: last bottle
9:30 pm: goto bed

Looks good, I'm glad you found something that works for you! The night is a bit short (only 10-10.5 hours) but it looks like he's getting plenty of day sleep so I'm guessing that's why the short nights. If it works for you and you're both happy, keep up the good work!

*Hugs* The short nights may be what's happening and he's OT because of them. Hopefully the NW mods can help you. If you need anymore nap support let me know! :)
