powder formula vs premix
« on: December 22, 2008, 18:23:45 pm »
Does anyone find that the powder formula makes baby gassy more so than premix?  DS2 has been on premix for a while and last night I ran out so used powder.  He was gassy all night and it interrupted his sleep.  Would you say it was the powder?  Also, when does the gas get better?????

Apparently this happens with my SIL, so she is paying over the odds for the premix :(

I never noticed any diff, we used the powder for home and premix for out

Im sure it must have a slightly diff makeup as it needs to be pasturised so its long life, so the constitution must vary even if slightly...............

After you mixed it, did you let it sit for a bit, or feed your lo right away?  I never give my little one the bottle until the bubbles from mixing have subsided.  We use both the pre made and powder and have not had a problem yet.

Maybe you could try some of those gas drops in the bottles that you give (with powder).

HTH!!!

Could it be because you are shaking the powder bottle to get it mixed and so there are bubbles in it?

We never noticed a difference with gassiness but my DS's poop was MUCH different when we gave him a pre-mix bottle, for some odd reason. We only used them when we were going out and weren't going to be able to keep a bottle cold and heat it up.  He just didn't take to it well at all.

Yes -- we used to keep two or three one-serving cartons only to use when we really needed to.  I used to think we couldn't manage without them, but now that we are on Nutramigen and need to take bottles, a way to keep them cool and a way to heat them up, TBH it's not as much hassle as I thought it would be!
