Do I have to wake baby after 2 hours?
« on: January 21, 2009, 00:27:59 am »
I can't believe I'm actually writing this post because we have been working on extending DS's horrible 30-45 minute naps and now he is actually sleeping!!  This morning his A time was pretty short, 1 hr and 20 minutes (he is 5 months old and on a 4hour EASY routine) and he was really tired so I put him down around 11:30am.  He woke up as usual, 45 minutes later and then I extended his nap by shhh/patting and he has been asleep for another hour and a half!  He isn't due for a feed for another 20 minutes or so, so I would like to let him sleep (he had a bad night last night as well) but he has been napping longer than his 2 hour time slot.  I just went in there and was gently patting his back to see if he would stir, but he is out cold!!  I'm really excited and don't want to wake him especially since it isn't quite time for him to eat just yet - is this ok??

If your LO has a shortened A time, do you let them make it up during their S time even if it's been longer than 2 hours?  I'm just worried about it cutting into his nightsleep since that hasn't been great recently either....TIA!!

How old is your LO ?

If necessary, I would wake my dd after the 2hr mark. The longer they nap the more it will interrupt night time sleep.

Now that my dd is almost 3yrs old, I let her nap up to 3hrs max. Usually she wakes up by the 2hr to 2.5hr mark.
