He usually will start to get fussy and then yawn and that's when we pack up and start WD.  And I know he's definitely ready to go down when he starts "singing" to himself....it's almost like a moan, whine, hum, over and over and over again and he does it as he's going to sleep.  I guess we'll just have to keep trying with the short A time in the AM and work from there.  Thanks again for all your advice.  We'll see how well it goes tomorrow at the in-laws...I'm sure MIL will have TONS of info for me.  She likes to compare DS to his cousin (DH's brother's daughter) who was born the day after thanksgiving.  She is always asking ,"Does Hunter do this/that?  Oh, well Lillian does...."  Her big comment the other day, "Lillian is sleeping through the night" (I think she slept from 11 until 5 or 6 once!)  And the other big one, "Lillian stays awake for a long time just looking around. She was awake for the past 2 hours sitting on grandpa's lap.  She's such a good sleeper."  Yeah, so was Hunter until he was 2 months and started suffering from reflux!  I just want to tell her, just wait...she'll change, too!!!  She's not on ANY sort of routine at all.  And it isn't fair to compare a baby to term with a preemie.  It's just SO frustrating having Hunter compared to EVERY baby out there.  And if I hear ONE MORE TIME how another baby is just as big as Hunter but a lot younger I'm going to scream!  "Lilly is almost 8 pounds and she's only a month old!"  Yeah, well Hunter is 10 pounds 1/2 an ounce and he's almost 4 months old..big deal!  He's a little guy.  Oh, sorry for the ranting!!!!!

Hi ~

How are things going? Hope you enjoyed your holiday and there wasn't too much baby comparing! That can be frustrating. My DD was tiny too since she was 3.5wks early. That singing is his mantra cry. Do you lay him in his crib when he does this or do you hold him until he's all the way asleep?

oh, things are going horribly, thanks for asking!  :'(  We are just so frustrated and at our wits end.  DH thinks that DS isn't getting ANY better even though we've only been on Prevacid for a week.  He thinks that we need to stop breastmilk and try soy formula.  He said that we've been doing this (meds) for 2 weeks and it's time to try something different because he has suffered long enough.  DS is doing well in the middle of the night, only wakes 1-2 times, eats and then goes right back to sleep.  He had a night feeding about 4:30 and then he was awake at 6 so i went in to see and he was obviously soiled so I got him up and changed him, wiped him up and since he was so smiling and giggling I thought he was ready to get up for the day so we got dressed.  He wasn't up 30 min and he was ready to go back down so I put him back down about 6:45 and then he slept until 8 when he'd kinda cry, but then try to fall asleep...he did that for about 40 min until DH got him up.  He was only up about 5 min and DH tried to feed him and then DS just started to scream...took an hour and a half to get him to calm down, he slept for about 1/2 hr and then woke up smiles and happy....until it was time to eat again!  We just don't know what to do.

DH likes to rock Hunter to sleep whereas I like to put him down while he's doing his sing/song mantra cry.  He thinks we should try to hold him to catch him up on his sleep..which at this point I guess I'm not opposed to doing so because he is just so dang tired.  We tried the swing today for naps, that didn't work.  It took us until almost 9pm to get him to sleep tonight.  He'd fall asleep and then wake up just looking around for 40 min or so then start crying....he downed a 3 oz bottle and then went to sleep for a few and then woke up again about 1/2 hr later, had a bit more, and then went to sleep.  It's almost like he's got restless leg syndrome, but with his whole body....like he just can't get comfy or settle.

Don't know, just frustrated and overwhelmed.  just want my baby to be happy, not suffer, and to sleep!!!!!!
