Question re: 3 yr 2 month old DD nap/bedtime
« on: January 29, 2009, 00:53:33 am »
Over the last month or so DD has been fighting her nap.  She has been talking or I should say crying and whining for a good 30-45 min. after we put her to bed (1pm) for her nap.  Once she falls asleep she'll nap for 1.25-2 hours (most often 1.5 hrs), waking around 3pm.  Occasionally the whining will last until 2:30pm at which point I just get her up.  Her bedtime is 7:30-7:45pm.  Again she whines and crys for a good 30 min-1 hour).  She'll then sleep until morning (6:30-7am).  The odd day she doesn't have a nap, she goes to bed for the night by 6:30-7pm and falls asleep instantly.  I thought maybe I should push her nap until 1:45pm, but in Sept. she'll be going to daycare fulltime and their naptime is from 12:30-2pm.  Just not sure what adjustment I need to make.  She tends to need 12-12.5 hours sleep in a 24 hour period.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hmmm how does she handle no nap?
Perhaps try giving a nap every 2nd day and on the other days give quiet time.
Also another though my DD1 started doing a similar thing and then waking cranky from her nap so we moved naptime 15mins early and it did the trick.

Generally DD starts to get more sensitive (any little thing will overwhelm her or put her into tears) late afternoon if she doesn't nap.  :-\

when we skip a nap bedtime is 30 minutes early and she is asleep withing minutes.  Usually when nap is skipped she either does quiet time in her room with some toys or lays on the couch and watches a movie.
