EASY on a 13 day old full term birth weight 3.950kg

im trying to stick to the EASY program feeding every 3hrs or so but the last two days she has not wanted to sleep after the 8am feed and stays awake till 11 or 12 and seems to be hungry again at about 10.30. I feed her then but am not sure if I should. The other time that shes awake nearly the whole time between feeds is around 6ish. At these times she sometimes burps poos but mainly is upset and throws herself around. I try to put her down after I settle her but she may then start to cry hard so I pick her up settle her again and put her back down. She may sleep for a few minutes and then she starts crying hard again. This can go on for the whole time till her next feed.

I dont know if cluster feeding applies to 13day old babies or if this is normal behaviour.

Has anyone any suggestions.

Hi Yes Im trying to breast feed but keep getting cracked nipples as im not waiting long enough for them to heal.
At the moment she has put on weight... up to at least 4.1kg.
Im giving her a mixture of expressed breast milk mostly this week and normal BF when I can.
I was wondering if the Expressed breast milk might not have enough creamy milk in it and therefore keeping her awake more.
Ive been expressing 100mls the last few days and she seems to drink most of it.

With the 3hour easy plan Im trying to stick mostly to the 3hours but like i said sometimes she wants more milk it seems and i wasnt sure whether to wait out till the 3hr mark.... ive at least been holding out to 2-2.5hrs where possible.

My mum thought that since she was a bigger weight that she could go 4 hours between feeds.... im not sure.

Its also frustrating having sore nipples... it makes it hard to feed properly.

Hey Molly, how are you doing?  Have you posted on the breast feeding board yet?  If you want you can put a link on here so we can follow you for support.

Hi
How do you add as a link?

I have moved my bub from basinet to cot since its been so hot with summer where I live. I think that has helped and Ive just been persisting with the PU/PD and shoosh method... seems to be working today and yesterday after my mum came to help. Im just trying to stretch her out to 3hour feeds if she wakes early.

I have posted on the BF message board I think. I will double check. Im just resorting to expressing milk now and may not go back to actual BF. Im expressing both breasts at the same time and getting a bot of a store up in the fridge.

PU/PD is too stimulating for babies under 4 months.  Sush/pat should do the job better.

As for the sore breasts, try to buy a nipple cream called Lansinoh.  It's natural and thick so doesn't get rubbed off with clothing.  It's really good.
