Stomach Flu & Teething.....doesn't want to eat
« on: January 27, 2009, 23:20:49 pm »
my lo is 9months and is just getting over a week long stomach flu, he is also teething and has become very fussy.  his routine included 5 bottles 4-6oz/day and 3 solid meals 5-8 tbsp, now he will take 4 bottles 2-5oz and 1 solid meal 4tbsp.  I am concerned because he just doesn't wan the solids and is picky with the bottle, he wakes up hungry at night (2-3am) and his routine is going out the window.

I am giving him infant motrin for teething pain.

Will this pass?  We have been struggling for almost two weeks?

Hugs to your little guy.  Yes the fussiness about eating while sick will pass.  Sometimes the pickiness will last several days longer than the actual illness.  As for teething, giving pain relieve should help.  Have you tried just offering some of his favorites for the time being?  Have you check with the doctor since the stomach flu has been going on for over a week?

thank you

we have an appointment to see the doctor next week

any tips on how to get him to take more during the day so he doesn't wake up hungry at night?

Keep offering his favorites and maybe try at a cooler temp for the teething pain.  Personally I would put the routine aside when my los are sick.  In fact we are just coming to the tailend of the flu and the cutting of several molars at the same time.
