LONG naps
« on: February 02, 2009, 19:03:19 pm »
Is it ok if my LO takes 3-hr long naps? He will be 11 wks old tomorrow and he's taken to taking 3-hr long AM naps. Is that too much or is that normal? This is after he eats about a 45 m-1 hr before he lays down, so he's going about 4 hours between feedings then. A lot of times he'll try to do that again in the late afternoon, but if I let him he won't sleep very well at night. I try to make sure he's up at least by 6:30 for a while before bedtime.

Generally speaking you don't want any one nap to be longer than 2 hours. Longer than 2 hours will eat into night sleep and that's never good ;)  But with that being said every LO is different and you should always follow LO's cues and do what works.
