Advice on cleaning a steam sterilizer??
« on: February 03, 2009, 18:59:37 pm »
SIL is due to have a baby in May and I said we'd be finished with ours by then and she could have it, she was so thankful but Im wondering if its a good idea now?

Ive decided to stop sterilizing and have spent the day trying to give the sterilizer a good clean! Ive de scaled it 3 times and each time I put it on a 'cycle' after its bringing out these little grey/brown bits.  As I said Ive de scaled it 3 times and Ive ran 6 cycles and each time the bits get less but Im bored now!!  :P

Any ideas what it could be and how to stop this?? Its an avent steam sterilizer.

Do you think its okay to give to use for a newborn? It seems to work just fine, just doesnt look that nice as you expect sterilizers to be very clean!

Thanks in advance  :-* :-*

:-\ I am not sure.  I have cleaned ours out and have not seen any marks on ot.

Not sure I am much use.

She can have mine if you want it, it is just sitting on top of my cupboard gathering dust.

Don't they recommend the little sachets of citric acid to clean with?

I need to get some more of those before I start using ours.
