11 week old fussy eater
« on: February 04, 2009, 00:00:12 am »
My 11 week old has become the most fussy eater this past week. She used to be on a 4 hour eating schedule and was taking almost 5 oz. during each of her daytime feedings. We were having napping issues so with the advice of the ladies on the EASY forum, I switched her to a 3 hour eating schedule. At first she was really having a hard time eating every 3 hours and was barely eating any.. then about 2 weeks ago, she started drinking 4-5 oz. during her daytime feeds. I think she must have been going through a growth spurt during that week.. WELL.. this past week has been a nightmare during feeding time.. She will drink the first oz... then right after I get that first burp it goes down hill. When I try to feed her again, she starts screaming, spitting out formula.. I usually stop and give her the paci for a second until she calms then I can change back to the bottle.. She might eat a little more--or she might not... This afternoon at 4 she only drank 3/4ths of an oz. So I'm hoping that she will eat big at 7 but usually she is very grumpy and that time and will probably fuss..
I don't know if she just isn't hungry and doesn't want to eat-- or if something is hurting her after I burp her.. She does pretty good at her middle of the night feeding... She doesn't cry a bit during it.. (probably b/c she is very hungry)
I know that everyone says that she is too young to already be on a 4 hour schedule, but i'm seriously thinking about going back to it..

Any similar situations or advice??

Do you think your lo could be suffering from reflux?  Have a look at this link and see if your lo has any of the symptoms.

Another thought, what size teat are you using on your bottles?  Do you think your lo could be bored with the flow, and require a faster flow teat?
