Thanks Paula.  I will keep an eye on his milk intake.  He's taking 170 to 210 mls on every bottle - 5 bottles a day - so a lot less than he was taking but still plenty I'd have thought?

Right, I've given him a break from the solids today and tomorrow morning I'm going to give him some pear.  He loved it when we tried all this a month ago.  I'll just have to ration him to 2 teaspoons!  He'd take 4 oz if I let him!  Greedy guts.  Would be alright if those greedy guts of his could actually cope with it!

You were all right about the growth spurt - he's suddenly grown out of loads of stuff!  Lovely to see him thriving.

Yes I would say that is perfect the amount of milk he is having.

Keep us posted on how he gets on with the pear.

Hi Paula,

He's doing well on the pear - we tried Papaya this morning and I'm going to introduce a second meal today - 1 hour after his 11 am bottle.  He's still not very regular and seems to be very windy - he's uncomfortable with it too, bless him but he's maintaining his milk intake and his poos are soft so I'm not too worried.  Just need to keep an eye on it and keep giving him water.

Thanks for your help everyone
xx

Great news that he is doing so well.  It could be that the fruit is what is causing the wind / gas.  Have you thought about trying a vegetable?

Hi Paula

He's had parsnip and that seemed to bung him up.  Today he's had butternut squash and tomorrow too.  Then I've got some swede.  All nice watery veggies - maybe parsnip is too starchy?  I've been told to avoid potato - parsnip has a similar texture?  He missed his lunch slot yesterday cos he was too uncomfortable to sleep much - really grumpy all day apart from the one hour he actually slept.  We had a really tough day.  His poo finally came an hour after we put him down - and was mostly undigested parsnip and papaya (sorry, TMI).  He's been much happier today and has slept LOADS - yay!  Hopefully, his little gut can keep moving...

Poor little guy!!  Solids are so fun but when they upset their tummies...it is such a pain!  All foods effect little ones differently, so it is hard to determine what will and will not bung them up!!

I agree with Judy, it can be so hard to try and find the right foods for them.

Pleased that he was in a happier mood today.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.
