Should I drop the Dreamfeed?
« on: February 19, 2009, 14:49:23 pm »
Hi everyone

My LO is almost 14 weeks and I have given a DF since she was 6 weeks.  She never has taken much - it went up to 4oz for a while but the last week she has only taken maybe 1-2 oz.  She doesnt wake to feed during the night - just a quick reswaddle and 5 minutes talking to herself once or twice a night, so i am just wondering is she really needs it?  She is putting on weight fine and eats plenty during the day.  Sometimes I find the DF wakes her a bit, and she tosses and turns for a while after it.  Has anyone stopped the DF this early and has it been successful?

Thanks

Laura

My dd never took much at the df- at the most 2-3oz. At 8 weeks she was consistently sleeping from df to 7am, so at 9 weeks I just stopped doing the df. The first night she woke at 5.30, I gave her 2oz and she went straight back to sleep. The next night she slept from 7 till 7am and continued to do so every subsequent night!
So the answer to your question is, yes, I did, and yes, it was successful!

The only thing you can do is try, and see how your lo copes.

Good luck, keep us posted on how you get on.
