So today I've been giving him a little feed before his two naps and it has been working.  The first nap was 2 hrs long.  And he is still alseep in his 2nd nap.

Both times I fed him before the nap, and he fell asleep with the bottle.  I don't want this to become a prop.  How did you handle this?

Thanks!!

Excellent news on those naps!

I fed her with the lights on, talked to her the entire time. If she started looking drowsy I sat her up to burp her even if I knew she didn't need burping. I would point something out to her to make her look, like perhaps the cat had just walked into the room or something. Anything that would get her to think, but not stimulate her too much. :)

Hi Robin!! I'm back for some help!! I need an outsider's opinion!! My lo has been having 2.5 - 2.75 A time, but he wakes up from his naps, chats and then goes back to sleep.  So I'm not sure if it is UT or OT because he does seem pretty tired when I put him down.

Yesterday
wake up 7 a.m
E. 7:30 a.m
A. 7:00 - 9:30 a.m
S. 9:30 am - 10:50 am (1 hr 20 min  nap.  He woke and played with his lovie, but this time he didn't fall bak asleep.  At 11:30 a.m he got upset so I took him out of crib and fed him)

E. 11:30 a.m
A. 10:50 am - 1:45 p.m (2 hr 55 min A time)
S. 1:45 p.m - 4:00 pm (He woke up at 2:20 pm. I knew he woke up because I saw him through the monitor but this time he didn't make any noise, he went back to sleep at 2:30 pm and woke again at 3:20 pm.  It was too early for him to be awake until bedtime so I shpatted him back to sleep until 4 pm)

E. 4 pm
A. 4 p.m - 7 pm
Bed 7 pm

DF 10 pm
4 am he woke up crying.  I thought he had an upset tummy so I gave him an anti-acid anti-gas, but woke up again at 5 a.m  He was really hungry so I fed him.  He drained a 7 oz bottle!! It had been ages since he didn't wake up for a feed during the night.

Today
wake up 7 am
E. 7:30 a.m
A. 7:00 am - 9:30
S. 9:30 - 10:40 am (1hr 10 min nap.  He woke up and chatted and babbled for around 30 min because he went back to sleep at 11:10 a.m and he has just woken up and it is 12 pm)

I just don't get why he is getting these broken naps.  It has been happening for a week or so.  He wakes up after 1hr 10 or 1hr 20 min, chats for awhile and goes back to sleep.  Or, for the second nap, he wakes up after 30 min, and then goes back to sleep!! I just don't know if he is UT or OT or if he just had enough with a 1hr 20 min nap!! May be I'm asking too much from him!! What do you think? Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to take a look at my routine

Hi Alexa!

If he's happily handling his following A times, I don't think he's OT. You could try increasing A time a bit, but this could also just be something developmental he's going through. It's also prime time for the 6 month growth spurt, so that could be causing some disruption as well. :)

Hi Robin!! I'm back for some help, again!!
So my lo's routine for the past three days has been like this:

6ish (He wakes up at around 6-6:30 am, but stays in cot until 7 am)
E. 7 am
S. 9:30 am - 11:30 am (1 hr 10 min)
A. 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
S. 2:30 pm - 3:40 pm (1 hr 10min) For this nap, he wakes up and chats and babbles for round 20 min and then he gets fussy and starts crying, so for the past days, I have done some APOP so he sleeps 20 more min until 4.20 pm and then I wake him up.  I do this because I don't want to have a catnap, and I don't want a 6:30 pm bedtime because then I would get an EW.
A. 4:20 pm - 7:10 pm
In bed for the night at 7:10 pm (sleeping already)

So I'm stuck.  Today, I decided not to put him back to sleep at 4 pm, and let him stay awake since 3:40 pm.  But it is too early.  He will be ready for bed at 6.30 pm, and this cause an EW (6 am), right?
So what do you think I should do when this happens? Also, I don't know why he keeps waking up at around 6 am.  No matter what time I put him to bed, he just wakes up at 6ish.  Is he getting OT or UT?  :-X

I came back to update yesterday's post.  So, yesterday I put him in bed at 6:45 pm (he was asleep at this time) He had a great night!! He woke up at 6:50 am, so no more 6 am wake ups!! Yay!! ;D So his last A time was 3 hr 5 min long. But today, it is a different story.

wake up at 6:50 am
E. 7:30
A. 6.50 am - 9.30 am (2 hr 40 min)
S. 9.30 am - 10.55 am (1 hr 25 min shorter than usual)

A. 10.55 am - 1.55 pm (3 hr)
S. 1.55 pm - 3.05 pm (1hr 10 min again!!!!!!!!!!! I went in and shpatted him back to sleep, it took me 15 min of shpat.  He fell back asleep at 3:20 pm, and then woke up again at 3:30 pm, and again shpatted him, went back to sleep, and I woke him up at 4 pm.   I couldn't have him up since 3 pm because that would mean he would be ready for bed at 6 pm, which is waaaay tooo early!! I don't know why he keeps sleeping 1 hr 10 min for this nap) Do you think he needs more A before this nap?

Today's first nap was shorter too.  May be because in the past days, my lo was waking up around 6 am, and stayed in his crib until 7 am; and today he woke up at 6:50 am, which is later, so may be he needed more A before the first am nap.  What do you think?

And what about he pm nap? I just can't make it longer, do you think I should add 10 min to that A time and have it 3 hr 10 min instead?

Thanks for your insights!

Updating my pp!

I put him down at 7 pm, but he wouldn't go down, he was just chatting and babbling.  I got really desperate so tried shpatting him at 7.20 pm, but this made things worse because he wanted to chat with me.  Finally he fell asleep at 7.45 pm!!  :o That is tooooooo late.  He woke up from the last nap at 4.10 pm.

So I don't know where to go now! More A? Less A?

Anyway, thanks for your input

Hi Alexa, sorry I didn't get online yesterday.

Geez, I would be a bit on the cautious side raising a 6 month olds A time to over 3 hours. It sounds like he's happy though during his A times? With my DD anything over 1hr but under 1.5hrs was UT. So I guess I would consider a 1hr 10min nap UT. Have you ever tried wake to sleep with him though to see if that can get him through? Otherwise go ahead and try adding the 10min and see what happens. The worst that can go wrong is you'll have to fit in another nap if he wakes OT and you can't resettle him.

This morning with the AM nap, I would bet money it was shorter because he slept past 6am.

Thanks Robin!! So if, tomorrow, he sleeps till 7 am like today (which I doubt because he went to bed sooo late), I will add 10 min to that first A and hope that he gets a longer nap.
And then, I will try adding 10 min to the second A time.  I know it is too long for a 6 mo, but he was doing 2.5 hr when he was 5 mo, so I think he has been on the high side of A times for awhile.

I used w2s to get rid of the 40 min naps, but I haven`t tried it for that pm nap.  I may give it a go.  ;)

Thanks again!! I'll come back to bother you in a couple of days and let you know how things go!
Hugs,
Alexa :-*
