My ds fights my arms too. I think all los refuse to sleep somewhere or other - for so many people it is the cot they refuse to nap in!!
Will your lo nap if the buggy is in motion? That is how I get round it. I plan the travelling bit for the nap - yes it gives a shorter nap but then I just shorten the next A time a bit and hopefully get a sensible nap the next time. I also try and have the first nap in the cot as that starts the day off well.
It is a pain but remember your los sleep requirements will start to fall off soon also - soon it will be only 3 naps, the 2 naps so freedom will return. Or you'll be like me struggling to entertain a baby for all 3 hrs of their awake time
. Also remember the catnap is a freebie - so can be taken anywhere - perhaps you could try to 'teach' your lo to nap elsewhere using this one? And as it is supposed to be shorter anyway its less risk - and if it fails miserably you can bring bedtime forwards to little to make up?
When trying to use the buggy I used to find it helps to block visual stimulations (stick a blanket over it) as if my lo could see out he wasn't going to nap. He's grown out of this now though.
