Won't feed in my arms!
« on: April 07, 2009, 06:06:54 am »
My LO has been on the bottle for 6 weeks now (she's 4.5 mths) and will take a bottle fine, but after 2-3oz stops and squirms.  I'll burp her and give her 10-15 mins break but she will not take any more while I am holding her, no matter how hard I try.  She'll take another 2 ozs if I put her in her bouncer or chair though.

Any ideas what could be going on?  She's been like this since we started the bottle but it's getting really difficult if I'm out because I can't take her bouncer or chair with me!

What size teat are you using?  Do you think your lo could be ready for a faster flow teat?

As they get older, it is not uncommon for them to not want to feed in your arms.  My DS was exactly the same and would only take a bottle sitting on the couch or in his bouncy chair.  I think it is cause when they get older they want to see more and this is easier if they are not in your arms.

Are you able to feed your lo in a pram while out?

I would definitely persever in your arms, it could just be a phase.

Aimee hated being fed in my arms after a while, like yours would start to be fed then after a burp she would get in her chair. I have to say it didnt bother me as such because she didnt like being over held IYKWIM and loved being left alone ( but totally different now) I think it last a few months and I just went along with it as I didnt like fighting with her and making feed time worse.

This is my own opinion, I hope you work something out. xx
