Hi,
I've been coasting and hoping for the best for months, I was just too overwhelmed with everything else going on that I didn't want to face my 2.5 year olds changing patterns. Her nights are short, 10 hours, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more, and I know I've let it go on too long. I let her nap up to 2 hours if she had a really short night, thinking it'll help, but I sometimes limit it to 1.5 hours if she had a good night, or if she fell asleep on the later end of the day, and I don't want to interfere with bedtime. Here is an average day for us lately:
6:30 awake
12:15 in crib
1:00 asleep (usually takes 1/2 hour to 1 hour to fall asleep)
2:30 awake
8:10 in crib
8:30 asleep (usually takes 1/2 to 45 minutes to fall asleep)
It wasn't long ago, that with daylight savings, she was sleeping until 8:00, but she's gradually shifted to 6:30, so that's my red alert not to let it go any further.
She has refused her nap only a handful of times, and when she has, she's stayed happily chatting and talking in her crib for up to 2 hours before finally calling to me to get her. She isn't resistant to going to bed, and actually seems to enjoy spending time in her crib, so we're lucky there.
I just need help determining how to structure her routine so that she can still enjoy at least some naptime while not making her night's too short.
Thanks for any advice you could share!
