Seems to be so common...
« on: April 20, 2009, 08:41:19 am »
Ive been reading other peoples posts and think this is very common for a 9 mth old, but DS is starting to refuse his solids.
I offer him a variety of both pureed vegies and fruit as well as finger food to munch on but he's suddenly gone off his vegies. All he will eat is yoghurt and whatever is mixed in with it (ive been mixing both fruit and pureed veg with the yoghurt lately just to get him to eat anything). He's completely stopped eating finger food except for rice crackers, rusks or toast. This morning he even turned his cereal away which is very bizarre. He's always been a fantastic eater - always interested in food. He constantly wants food off our plate but when i offer it to him he just throws it about!
So im giving him just a greek natural yoghurt and i mix in either mashed banana or avocado, pureed apple, pear, nectarine etc. He eats it but it's still a struggle. Ive also offered him pureed pumpkin mixed in with yoghurt which he ate a little of, but overall his appetite has reduced dramatically! I know he's not teething and his milk intake is fine so whats the deal? Is it just a phase? How long does it last? Because when bubs are over 1 yr old, shouldn't they be getting a lot of nutrients from their solids. Also are there any multivitamins for kids out there and for what age group. Ive seen some for over 5's and thats all. TIA

It does seem to be a common phase. Tbh milk should still give the majority of the vitamins at this age, but if you are concerned I'm sure there is baby vits out there, are you uk? There is one called abidec which I am sure is 6 months plus, maybe go and check at boots x

Im Oz but Im not really concerned about vitamins for now because as you said, milk is more important. Im just wondering what other mums did, or do you just have to let him go through the phase. I guess it's just so weird for me because ds has seriously LOVED his food up until now ::)
