just eating finger food=needing to feed in the night???
« on: April 22, 2009, 20:52:51 pm »
my DD has completely gone off being fed off a spoon and clamps her mouth shut tight when i try.She will however eat finger foods.she ate a roast dinner in pieces off her high chair tray today and i had exactly the same in a bowl with a spoon which she will not touch ::)
im just worried that by eating this way she is not eating enough and after just cracking nw and night feeds im worried she is going to start waking for them again because she is not getting enough in the day.
Does anyone have any experience with this? all she has eaten today is ff so although im sure she hasnt been hungry today im concerned what tonight will bring.
She is 9 months and is on 3 milk feeds a day.She refuses her am milk so has recently dropped this off.
Thanx,
Lucy xxxxx

I wouldn't say the eating finger food = NWs for feedings as long as she is getting bm/formula and the amount has not decreased much.  Sounds like she is exerting her independence, hence "I want to feed myself" attitude.  Try offering food high in calories, nutrients and good fat.  Check the Finger food thread/or recipe threads for ideas.  In the meantime keep offering.  One possibility is to let her have a spoon or fork or to try finger feeding (you hold onto the food and feed her)

Hang in there.  It is a phase.
