Need help with a bit of tweaking,I think?
« on: April 27, 2009, 06:30:33 am »
Hi all, I'm back! nothing too major really but want to nip in the bud before it escalates.  Maya is nearing 2.5 now and her sleeping has been so much better, still hard to get past 6am but hey i'll take it after all those ew's.

Anyway what i am experiencing now is refusal at nap times although she will fall alseep after 30 mins or so, this does not matter what time she goes down or wake time it always takes around that time which is not a major issue, sleeps most days 1.5-2hrs sometimes i have to wake her, then bedtime is normally at 7.30 and again she is taking an age to settle, not sure if she is ut, ot, or just trying it on! if bt is earlier she just wakes nearer 5.30 so i really try not to go any earlier if possible but the other night she was up stairs by 7.15 and took til 8.45 to fall asleep, she is not upset, just wanting drinks, toilet, cuddles, teddies you name it to delay bed, so just wanted someone to see if we need to tweak anything or if it just a phase.

Thanks, Rachael x

what time is the nap?

this is about the age some kids start to shorten naps or drop some nap days in preperation to not have naps anymore.  we have had to move DS naps to 1.5 max from 2-2.5 hours o this could be the same type of a thing.  so we need to look at each oof these things as possibilities.  in the past has your LO had more sleep then average or less, or average?

Hi thanks for your responce, Maya has always slept less than average but has really needed more, we have only ever got 10-10.5 hrs at night though regardless to what we do, nap normally falls around 11.30-12 I tend to get longer naps at this time rather than later, however this is due to the fact she wqakes pretty early. But maybe we need a later nap and just keep it shorter, what do you think? yesterday she only took an hr nap and was shattered by 6ish so bedtime was 7 last night and she went out like  light but that meant 5.30 wake!!!!

I would try to do a little later nap.  like maybe 15-30 min at first and see  how it goes.  don't change te bed time though, even if she seems really tired as she i going to wake early if you do that.

Hi again, we have pushed nap to 12 and she is varying between 1hr 15 and 2 hrs cant seem to get her to settle until 8pm and waking at 5.30 regular now! she seems tired so I dont think she is ut, yesterday she slept 2 hrs and was falling asleep in the car on the way back from a trip out and that was 6.30!!! but i dont want super early nights as we still get ew , could it be anything else?

Hi there, ew is pretty consistent generally between 5.30 and 6 (i dont mind 6 so much!) but if she takes a short nap or long nap she is taking forever to settle, and stilljust makes it to nearly 6
