My DS is almost 11 weeks old and although I know every baby is different my DD was sleeping through from 11pm to 7am at this age. I think I'm doing everything I did with her (only difference is he's in our room whereas she was in her own room from day one as at the time our bedroom was too small) he breastfeeds every 3 hours and naps well through the day but then also eats every 3 hours at night. I'm sure I read in BW that once a certain weight and eating so much through day they are capable of sleeping long stretches at night? One night last week he did go from 10.30pm to 3am but then woke at 5am and is now habitually waking at 5am and isn't settling unless I feed him. He's also gone back to 3hrly feeds. He does take a dummy but wont take it through night to extend sleep time. Do you think he genuinely still needs those feeds? He's 11lb 7oz if that makes any difference.

Please please can someone show me there's light at the end of the sleep deprived tunnel or was it just a fluke with my little girl??!! Am absolutely pooped :-[

I'm sorry to tell you they ARE all different. My LO didn't sleep through until 10 months old. The only thing that jumps out at me is that having him in your room, are you sure you're not rushing to nurse him too soon? Are you waiting for a real (not mantra) cry? Also maybe moving his crib a little further from your bed may mean he doesn't smell lovely mummy milk every time he stirs in the night.

Hi there..I know how it feels to be pooped!  Just wanted to let you know I have an 11 week old on Saturday and he is 14 lbs now....8lbs 14 oz at birth and I feed him every three hours, some nights he will go longer stretches and he'll punch 4-5 or even 6 hours at times during the nights....I was also confused when I read in BW that a higher birth weight should be able to sustain longer....he has gone 8 hours one night but that was it!  It seems to fluctuate...growth spurts too I guess, but now I believe I have a habitual night waker also :( Which I'm trying to work out the kinks on!  I try everything else with him first at night (swaddle,shh-pat, etc) but when all that fails and he is still crying...you have to feed him....hopefully it will get better! :D Take Care!

I guess I should try and enjoy him now while he's still so little as this is definitely the last time!! I did think about moving him to his own room as I wondered whether he could smell my milk but so love having him near at the moment. Well will just have to persevere...now I know why sleep deprivation is used as form of torture!! :D

Thanks for your advice - hope all goes well for you both :)
