Alternating 2 nap days and 1 nap days...
« on: July 11, 2009, 20:08:22 pm »
How did you decide what would be a 2 nap day and what would be a 1 nap day? What I've been doing is if she's awake before 7am it's a 2 nap day with normal bedtime. If she's awake 7am or later it's a 1 nap day with early bedtime. I'm just wondering how other people plan things.

Thanks!

My dd decides herself. And her wake up time doesn't seem to be the factor. She always takes her morning nap, with her pm one it varies significantly, sometimes she'll sleep 1.5 hours, some days as little as 15 mins, an some days she won't sleep at all. either way if she's happy to get out of the cot and is not cranky I let her have her way. She spend the second half of the day in day care and they offer her to have a nap (by putting her down) and its up to her to decide whether she wants it or not.

Me too.

The only exception is if she's had about 4 days of 1 nap and is more sleepy than usual about 10am. Then I put her down for a morning nap at 1030. Often though, after 4 days of 1 nap she will wake earlier anyway in which case I would do 2 naps anyway.

Hi! How are you?!

So you are doing some days with 2 naps?  It sounds like a good plan, if there is earlier waking then 2 naps, if not, then 1.  Do you limit the time on either nap?  How long do you have in between when you have 2?  Do you find that if you have the 1 nap then you get the earlier waking?

I am having nap troubles myself.  We are mostly trying to stick with 1 nap, but always getting 1 hour 15 mins.

Good luck! :-*

Thanks for all the input ladies! Vicku, look forward to hearing what you did as well!

Hi Kris - long time no "see"! For us, when Charla has 2 naps I limit the AM nap to 30min and then she usually has a 1.5hr PM nap. When we do 1 nap and earlier bedtime she's actually been sleeping 12+hrs that night, so perhaps a slightly earlier waking but not by much. We are having issues with short 1 nap days as well, for us it's almost always 1.5hrs to the minute. If she would lengthen that nap by just 30min I think we'd be golden.

Robin, I hope you get it sorted through.  I really thought our LO's would be on 1 nap by now! ::)  Maybe soon?  I might have to start my own post about our nap issues, timing is just off and we are starting to get into a OT mess.  Good luck to you!  I keep checking up to see how things are going!
