I introduced a bottle when Jacob was 5.5 months. I tried one morning when he was hungry, and it was a no go, and tried at every feed that day with no success.
The next day I did the same - started at 7am, and offered at every feed. He took the bottle later than day. J was a bit different though as he was refusing breast feeds as well as he has feeding aversions caused by his reflux.
The FAQ's is very helpful.
I would offer at a hungry feed for a few days to see how your lo responds. Try a few times and if not then BF as normal. If you get no success then you need to pick a hungry feed and stick to it - so offer the bottle every 30 mins or so until the next feed is due and then BF. I do believe hunger is the motivation to take it.
I used warm EBM in a MAM bottle. Took me WEEKS to get him to take any formula!!
I do think that the barrier you are up against is that your lo doesn't understand that there is food in there, and they also have no idea how to use it. The sucking is different and controlling the flow is different.
Once it is accepted the key really is to give regular bottles (for full feeds) at least every other day or so, else they will just refuse again. J used to take bottles every day from 8 to 14 weeks to give gaviscon in EBM pre-feed. When I stopped doing this within a week he just refused the bottle until 5.5 months. Very frustrating.
Some babies are very stubborn with this one - and others are fine. 3 months is still very young so I think you will be in with a good shot.
