Hi!  I have 13 week old twins.  We've been on the 3-hr EASY, same schedule as in the book, for about 4 weeks and it works great.  However, Baby A has started spitting up a lot in the last few weeks.  Our doctor has confirmed that it doesn't sound like reflux.  She eats 3 to 4.5 oz per meal (5 meals plus a dream feed) and as of today weighed 11 lbs 12 oz (50th percentile).  It seems unlikely to me that she eats too much because the amount she takes per meal seems on the low end of what babies her age eat.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to cut her middle-of-the-day feedings back to 3 oz to see if she really is eating too much.  But do you think it's that or that she needs to move to the 4 hr schedule?  She does seem to get hungry right at the 3 hour mark, so she's not trying to skip feedings on her own.

Thanks!!

I personally would not cut your lo's feeds.  If she is taking  the amount happily, then I would not worry.  If your lo is not uncomfortable when spitting up I would say that your lo is just a happy spitter.  My DS was always like this he would always spit up a small amount.

thanks!  That's my instinctive feeling about it, but the pediatrician made me question myself because she suggested that the baby might be eating too much.  I just don't think she is, though...  thanks!

Ditto what Paula said.

I definitetly wouldn't move to 4 hour routine until after 4 months.  Based on babe's weight I wouldn't think that she's eating too much.  Some babies just spit up alot.  If she's not uncomfortable then I'd continue with regular feeds.  Maybe make sure she is sitting up for 30 minutes after every feed.

Good luck.
