I posted on the EASY board, but I am desperate, so I would post here too!
My son is 8 weeks and we started the EASY routine this week. Before that, he had been breastfed on demand, which was usually between 2 and 3 hours, but his naps were not regular. He is adapting well to EASY, except for naps around 4 or 5pm. We put him down after around 45 minutes of activity, when the first sleep cues happen, and he is calm and falls asleep quickly, then wakes up after around 10 minutes and fusses or cries for over an hour. His cries get more and more hysterical as he gets over tired and fights sleep.
We are putting him down in a calm room, swaddling him, offering his a paci (although I would prefer he doesn't use one so we don't push it if he spits it out) and shush/patting him.
His routine for today has been:
6:45 Woke up, relaxed in crib
7:00 Eat (20 minutes- he is a fast feeder)
7:45 Put down
8:00 Sleep
9:00 Eat (10 minutes)
9:45 Sleep (fell right asleep swaddled and put in crib)
10:45 Eat (15 minutes)
11:20 Sleep (again, fell right asleep)
1:45 East (Woke him to eat)
3:00 Sleep (fell asleep in stroller)
3:45 Eat (20 minutes)
4:30 Put down........
and here is where it all goes wrong. He fell asleep at 6:00, after shush/pat, being walked around when hysterically crying, and finally falling asleep against his dad's chest on our bed. His evenings are great. He usually has a feed at around 7, then bath, then another feed then bed. He falls asleep quickly, wakes up around 3 or 4 but can be patted back to sleep, then wakes up close to 7 to start the day.
The afternoon meltdowns are killing me. It just breaks me heart to hear him cry like that, for so long. Please help!!
