How old before a toddler should be feeding themselves with a spoon?  And how old was your LO when they could feed themsleves?

my lo's did best with a fork to start with and liked to 'stab' things with it. They were using a fork/spoon by 14 months or so as I always let them have a bit of cutlery when eating.

Stan was feeding himself - messily - most meals with a spoon at around 16 months. He would feed himself and I would spoon some in too. He was much less messy with things he liked (esp. yoghurt), and would feed himself the whole pot.

My lo also did better 'stabbing' things with a fork at first and started doing this when he was about 16 months. He then started using his spoon at about 18 months. DS was feeding himself completely at about 11 months because he just refused to be spoon-fed anything  ::). So between 11 and 16 months DS used his fingers to eat.
