My LO is 10-months old and for the most part has been a terrific napper and sleeper. He's been taking 2 naps a day for as long as I can remember, and has been sleeping through the night for the past 4 months. It's been great. I usually nurse him briefly before putting him down and he puts himself to sleep once I lay him in his crib (sometimes 5-45 minutes later). It's been a fool proof system and it helps me keep my sanity.
We do travel a lot, especially to different time zones and when we return, it's always tough. I usually have anywhere from 2-5 days of he!@ before getting him back on schedule (I have posts to prove it...literally was in tears). I've been home from our latest trip now for a week and nothing is working.
He's waking up all night long, crying and standing in his crib...has thrown his lovey on the floor and won't settle on his own. The only thing that settles him is nursing. He's never liked the Pu/PD method. He's a wiggly baby and doesn't just chill out easily. After waking up all night, he's getting up for the day at 4:30/5:00am.
Then, naps....ugh. What is happening. We do the same routine before the morning nap. We get up, nurse, take a walk, eat breakfast, play a bit and then I do the wind down in his room (dark room, white noise, nursing). I know he's tired because he rubs his eyes, falls in/out of sleep...and is so ready to go when I put him in his crib.
Then...he'll either sleep for 5 minutes or not sleep at all and cry and cry. The same thing happens for his 1pm nap. We're now going on the 3rd day without any naps. I feel so discouraged. He is teething, and doing new things every day...but I have a hard time believing that is what is ruining our routine.
I feel like we'll never be on schedule again. What should I do? Do I let him cry a bit? Or, skip the nap if he's not in to it? How do I start over?
