what age to give him a plate

and let him feed himself? or even how do you begin to transition to this stage?

Caleb loves to pick stuff up and put it in his mouth (what baby doesnt huh?) but of course we dont do this with his dinner unless its finger foods like pancakes, toast etc, but tonight i decided to give him more than one item of food, so half of his plate had chicken with avocado and peas all together and the other half had pasta, some mixed veges and beef sauce (i know, its alot of variety but it was left overs from other meals and too small an amount to only have one of for dinner)

so when would it be appropriate to give him that plate with that all on it and let him go for it? im sure he wants a plate like ours that has a little mashed spud, a carrot or some peas and a little bit of meat on it, just a baby version of our food, so what age does this all happen at?

We just started giving Spencer a plate in the last month or so...we moved her booster up to the table, so she needs one now. Otherwise the tray on her chair was too tiny to fit a good size plate. Try it and see how he does, just make sure it a plastic plate...Masyn has been known to toss glass plates to the floor!
