ok, so what does a ONE hour nap mean?
« on: January 02, 2010, 17:12:16 pm »
I know what a 30 minute nap means (OT) and a 45 minute nap (UT) but what about when 9-month LO makes it through the 40 minute jolt but wakes at the 1 hour mark, or a little sooner. He is usually all jammed up on the side of the crib, and I can't get him to go back down, this has been happening for his AM nap.

EASY

E: 7am BF
E: 8:30 solids
S: 10am (1-1 1/2hr hit or miss)
E: 11:30 BF
E: 1pm solids
S: 3:00 - 4:30
E: 5:30 Solids
E: 7:00 BF
S: 7:30

Hi there, I am going to suggest he's undertired (UT) - at 9 mths he's probably starting to need less day sleep.  Are you getting any nap refusal in the PM nap?  How are his nights?  Is he doing that 11.5 hours consistently?

We've had a couple of 50 mins naps lately too.
The tweaking never stops!

He really hasn't been refusing naps in the PM, my theory is because I BF him right before, so he is all snug and happy to go down for a nap. The 11.5 hour nights have been consistent, however, he is cutting one tooth after another. So I would say once a week lately we have had a "rough" night, but 2 maybe 3 night wakings at the max. Sometimes we end up giving him Motrin in the middle of the night. Should I be extending his first A time?

Seems just when I think I have it all under control!!

Hi there, to be honest if he has decent consistent nights, teething aside, and isn't fussy in the day, I would probably leave it.  He will soon be wanting to cut back on one of those naps.  He may be doing that already.  Normally the transition has the first nap shortening and then the afternoon nap moving back until you get one nice long nap in the day.  In theory :-)

Control? What's that you speak of hehe?
