lost interest a bit concerned.
« on: January 07, 2010, 08:06:53 am »
Hi everyone, My little one is almost 14 months and he has an amazing appetite but he really seems to have lost interest in BF. I feed him in the morning and before bed. I am worried he is missing out on important nutrients by not having enough milk. Should I give him a bottle instead? is regular full cream milk ok or should I try a formula? Dont want to stop BF but am concered about him. He eats well during the day and gains weight at a great rate.
Any ideas:) :)

Thanks so much

TBH at this age they should be getting most of their nutrients from solids rather than just milk.  If he is eating well it's not that surprising that he is less interested in bfing.  You can offer him milk in a bottle if you like - regular milk is fine - or you can keep offering the breast to see if he will take it.

He could be self-weaning?

If you are concerned about nutrients, you could try using multivitamin supplement as syrup or a formula follow-on milk during the day?

Not sure, but these FAQs might explain what might and might not be happening?
