15 month old EWs
« on: February 09, 2010, 18:04:15 pm »
My little Madi is just a few days away from turning 15 months and for the past week we have been having some frequent Ews ranging between 6-6:30am. The majority of the time she falls back asleep. I am not sure if this is just a phase, OT from being on one nap for 9days now or needing an increase in A time.

Here is our routine
wake 7
nap 1 12-2:30-3pm
bed 7:30pm

She had a cold last week, which has now developed into an ear infection.  She is in good spirits and is on antibiotics now.  This morning she woke up at 6am, I fell back asleep and I thought she did as well.  By 11am, she was crying for her bed.  I was hoping to try set nap times but I don't think it will work for her when she is not feeling well.  Now, I am thinking could it be because she is not feeling well again or is she a little OT?

Today is a two nap day for her.

Any advice?

thanks

Hmmm.... it doesn't look like she would be OT from that routine.  Actually, I don't think it is really an EW.  If she is sleeping 3 hours during the day and 10.5/11 hours at night, then she is definitely getting enough sleep.  Also, if she is dozing in and out of sleep at that time, that is a good thing, since she is not yelling for you to get her.  What time was she waking before?

I think if you want her to sleep in a bit in the morning you may have to limit the nap to 2hrs.  Like Kara said I think she is getting enough sleep overall.  Is she low or high needs sleep?

Hi Sabrina :)

We're kind of having the same thing with Dylan, though we're doing late bedtimes instead of the ews (I cannot, cannot function before 630am ;)).  He's been having a 3+ hour nap too, and then not going to bed for the night until 830 or 9, then waking at 7.  But for total sleep, he's doing just fine for his age (like Madi!) but the long nap is robbing his night sleep a bit.  I'm leaving his routine as it is since it seems to be working for us thus far, but I agree with pps that if you want a longer night you'll have to shorten that nap a bit.

hth! :)

She was higher on the sleep needs. Prior to this, she would always wake up after 7am.I was hoping for her to have a nice nap along with a nice night-only in a perfect world! :P I will see how the next few days go and then limit her nap to 2.5hours first and see if that improves. I think two hours will make her very cranky.
It really sucks that as they get older and are filled with much energy, that their sleep needs drop. Sigh!
She slept from 11-1pm today, so I am hoping to squeeze in a CN.

That's exactly why we're sticking with the long nap/short night for now.  Dylan is a bear if he gets woken up 'prematurely' ::)

My fingers are crossed for you, hope you're having a good night! :-*

After her Cn I put her down a little later for bed(7:45pm) and she woke up at 6:25am. She did doze off for another 15minutes.  :P  I am hoping she will handle her full 5hours of A time this morning.  We have swimming so that should wake her up a little.

Fingers crossed for a decent wake up time tomorrow.  I will keep you posted. :-*

Good luck Sabs. Personally I think you will have to cut that nap if you want a longer night. Keep us posted x

Hubby let her sleep her full three hours today as she seemed very tired. I am hoping she is caught up on some sleep now and we can begin tweaking her naps tomorrow. I pray we have a 7am wake up tomorrow.

I guess she might of been a little OT because after her 3hour nap she went to bed at 7:40pm and woke up close to 7am. :-\ Today she napped for 2.5hours.  I am aiming for a 7:30pm bedtime.  I just don't understand her sometimes.

I will see how the next few days go and if I come across any issues, I will ask you lovey ladies.
