Newby...started EASY today , have questions
« on: February 16, 2010, 01:00:21 am »
So I decided to start easy today and my dd is doing well...we did have her a routine before but she was napping with props so taht is my main goal.
My question is...what do you do if they wake up from the nap before the scheduled feed time..do you feed anyways?
Here is what our schedule was like today... ( first day..she woke at 730)

730 am Wake up
740 - feed (breastfed)
730 to 845 - Awake
845 to 930 Sleep

1100 breastfeed
930 to 1145 - awake
1145 to 1225 - sleep(she woke up..we did pu/pd for 45 mins..then she fell back to sleep)
110 to 200 - sleep

200 - eat
200 to 330 - awake
330 to 430 - sleep
430 - eat

Any suggestions..i would like her to do the 4hour schedule..but am unsure what to do when she doesn't nap as long and then her awake time is before her feed..etc.
Thanks

Hi there and welcome, are you able to tell me how old your Little One is? if you want her to be on a 4 hour EASY then she needs to be able to handle staying awake at least 2 hours first and that usually ahppens at around 4 motnhs old

Sorry..she turned 4 months on Feb 8. She has a hard time staying awake 2 hours sometimes but others seems to be ok.

I had exactly the same questions when my LO was about that age. As far as I could tell, as long as she is going the number of hours you want between each feed, and is not being fed to sleep, then it doesn't really matter where the A time falls.

We used to do E - A - S - more A - E etc, and I would cluster feed in the afternoon as that was when DS was hungriest. The main thing is that she doesn't depend on feeding as a prop and learns to get to sleep by herself. As they grow older this is a godsend!!

Hope this helps.

she is having very short naps though and this isnt enough sleep for her during the day, she wont be able to handle 2 hours just yet but if you gradually increase her A time in 15min lots then she should be able to get there soon, its more about what she can handle though. if you increase her A time up to 1.5 hours for a few days then up to 1 hour 45mins after that etc until you find a time she is comfortable with and also is sleeping for up to 2 hours then thats totally acceptable. Dont do it all at once or she wont be able to handle it, do it slowly
