Need help understanding OT
« on: February 17, 2010, 19:30:08 pm »
We're in our second week of EASY and some strides have been made--we've went from no naps to a couple 1-1.5 hour naps/day for our almost 10 week old LO.  She still stirs at around the 30-45 minute point, which as a I understand from the board and the book could indicate OT.  However, how do we get out of OT if her naps continue to only sometimes go beyond the 45 minute point.  It seems a little like a continuing loop.  Do I need to adjust her A time when she doesn't it the 1.5 hr mark?  Thanks for the advice!  I've really learned a lot in this last week reading the book and the great advice here!

OT can be a terrible loop - all you can do is extend naps wherever possible; reduce A times following short naps; and if you can't do fewer, longer naps, do more frequent short naps. So yes, after a short nap she will need her A time cut back.

Thanks so much!  I thought that's what we needed to do, but it's nice to have someone confirm it.  Hopefully, we can close the short nap sequence soon.  Thanks again!
