getting back into easy after illness
« on: March 04, 2010, 21:12:38 pm »
Hi, My Ds is 9 weeks old and we were doing easy quite succesfully apart from napping but we even got that better. The problem is that he is now on antibiotics due to an infection and his routine is obviously all over the place. So I need some advice on how to get him back on track when he gets better.
He was feeding 120ml x 9 including night feeds. (though he did not really finished them all all the time)
Before he got ill we changed teat size from 1 to 2 as we thought 1 was too much effort for him and he started finishing more of those feeds. Before he fell ill, his naps had significantly improved too but now it seems we are back to where we started though it is understandable as he is not well.

Another thing we noticed before he fell ill was that when we offered his feed at the 3 hour mark he was not really hungry all the time, I mean sometimes he would take the bottle after 3 hours and some other times he would only play with it. So we thought maybe he is ready for 3.5 hour routine?

It may be too much to ask but what i would like to do it to work towards the following.

How to get him to increase the size of feeds he has and reduce the number of feeds in 24 hours (as I mentioned now he get 9. I know from past times he can go for 5 hours without a feed at night so I would like to aim for that every time.
I also do the dream feed but he still will wake up 3 hours from that one for a feed, ie he wakes up every 3 to 3.5 hours in the night for a feed.
In my opinion e does not have enough milk during the day but I do not know how to change that as I said he sometimes is not interested in his feed after 3 hours.

Hope everything is clear enough. Sorry have not put down a routine but there has not been a routine for some time now :o(

please advice!?
