Few questions about our routine
« on: March 12, 2010, 13:59:19 pm »
Hi Ladies

Its been a few years since I last did this and it all seems so new again!!  I have a few questions about our routine at the moment.  It is working pretty well and I kind of feel if it ain't broke don't fix it .......but.........I want to make sure I am not setting us up for any problems as a result - hope that makes sense.

Anyway, in my reading I have noticed it says that at Ds's age (7weeks) he should be having 3 naps and a cat nap and 2 cluster feeds that should be phased out by 8 weeks.  Currently ds is taking 3 naps and 2 catnaps.

E -7am
A
S - (nap 1)8am

E - 10am
A
S - (nap 2)11am

E -1pm
A
S - (nap 3)2pm

E -4pm
A -
S -(catnap) 5pm

E - 6pm
A
S - (catnap)7pm

E - 8pm
A -
S - 8:15/8:30

E - dreamfeed @11pm then sleeps til 7am in the morning

So, do I really need to cut out the cluster feeds at 8 weeks.  Why is that recommended?  Should I move to just 1 cluster feed and catnap?  If so how do i go about doing this.

I am hesitant to change anything because he is sleeping through the night from 11pm til 7am, but he is really fussy from after the 4pm feed and some nights I can't get him to sleep after the 8ish feed until 10:00/10:30, so I am feeling as if our evenings need some tweaking.

Hope someone can make sense out of all of that!!

Tracey recommended dropping the cluster to encourage them to take full feeds during that day and to discourage snacking. But some LO do need it for longer - especially those who are EBF.

I suspect your evenings are sometimes a little fussy as your LO gets a bit OT with the 2 CNs. Perhaps he would do better if he just went to bed for the night at 7pm and didn't have that last bit of A?

LOTS of LO's are fussy in the afternoons and evenings though - I think they conspire  ;)
