To nap longer or not?.....
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:03:53 am »
Brodie has beed solidly on one nap for a few weeks now. Doing fab, EW cleared up for the most part and getting long nights back. Realised we had to cap the nap at 2 hours to ensure a good 11.5/12 hour night.

Teething canines at the moment. We are getting horrendous NW, in fact we co-slept last night from 5am.  Anybody that know me knows that a huge NO-NO.  :P My bed is MINE!!(DH is lucky to get a space!) Last night for example he woke at 11, 12.30, 2, 3.15 and then was pretty much awake from 4 off an on. It was the strangest NW. He was crying but quietly and not even lifting his head when I went into him, meds didn't help one bit. I am also concerned whether OT is playing a part too.

Should we let him sleep longer in the day? He's giving cues after as little as 3 hours A, the nap has gone from 12 back to 11 already and we are going early to bed to compensate. Its a fine line with him balancing out night and day sleep but these teeth are making him tired.

I know the answer I just cant see the wood for the trees, so bloody tired today and have got lunch with the IL's today. Oh joy.

Anybosy do extended nap whilst teething? I have just worked so hard to mop up all the mess pre 2-1 that I dont want to mess it up again!

Hi Emma,
Hugs for the rough night. I think if we had a night like that then I would let DS sleep longer for his nap tbh. Even if it means his night sleep is less from slight UT at least he will be happy rather than OT from needing more sleep. Teething is such a PITA. We are going through similar. I medicated last night and it def helped but after the better night I am sure we will have a weird day - always seems to be the case here now.

Emma I am fully expecting to go back into this mode when the next round of teething starts.  Finn's feeling fine and dandy now but when he's not it's chaos.  Pure survival.  So I would probably lean towards letting the nap go on a bit.  They just don't feel great.
The tweaking never stops!

Wel today he went down at 11am and I woke him at 1.15 as we had lunch with IL's. Went to bed at 6.30pm and fell asleep on the bottle.  ::)

It sure does take it out of them this teething business. I worry every time about mopping up the little AP that we can use. Out of all of it though co-sleeping would be the last thing I would want to have to fix afterwards.

Nursery is shut this week and DH has him tomorrow. I am sure he'll be glad to think that he can let him nap as long as he wants! I just worry bacuase he's such a PITA for eeking out those A's once they go back iykwim.

You're right Wendy....''pure survival'' at the moment. The days are long and he's not a happy chappy. He has eaten next to nothing today and been a total whinge all day. Bless his heart it must be so painful.

Fingers crossed for a good night over here! Thanks for the input as always Ladies.

we are in the same boat with teeth over here and to be honest our A times have dropped a lot... but I just figure that she's not feeling well and that when she feels better we will work our way back up...would rather she not be OT and feeling crappy cause that just makes for a crappy day and night for me :)
