berries, fish , citrus and red meat
« on: April 12, 2010, 15:38:16 pm »
Hi, is it true that these are no-nos till baby is 9 to 10 months?
I honestly gave my lo salmon one time combines with cheese and other and she loved it with no pbs- and she is only 7 months. I also gave her blueberries with bananas she also loved them with no pbs.
then I heard that they are better off without them till they are older.
I also gave her home made meat stock ...
nothing citrusy yet...
would like your views on this,

thanks

I think it's more strawberries that are troublesome, blueberries are ok as far as I know!  Even so I was giving my LO all that stuff too here and there long before I was 'supposed' to.  Advice can be so variable, and it's good to know what people are saying, but trust your judgement as well.  :)

That's great that she's really enjoying solids.  :)  Other moms might have some more insight into what is safe.  I know some mentalities are that babies can have just about anything from the start!  Really depends on who you talk to.  We were quite relaxed about the whole thing, going slow at first but then really picking up and trying lots of new things by the time DS was 7-8mos.  By 9mos he had tried just about everything except the obvious 'nos' (nuts, honey, shellfish I think).  Just keep an eye for reactions and enjoy the fun world of solids!  Maybe someone else will have some better info, but that's my take on it anyway!  :)

I agree with Martina. By 9 months my DS was eating whatever we were having for meals with the exception of course of nuts. honey, etc. like she said. Solid foods stressed me out at first but after a month or two, you will just be trusting your own instinct! Good luck!
