4 nights to sort out the sleep issues
« on: May 02, 2010, 05:37:13 am »
Hi

My OH is away for 4 nights and i would love to take this opportunity to work on Tylers sleep issues, he was sleeping pretty well but for the past week has gone back to how he used to be, nothing has changed so i'm at a loss really.  He naps really well during the day and feeds well.  Last night he went to bed at 7 (asleep by 7.30) but was then awake at 8.30 (which i managed to get him straight back off by patting his back), then 11, 1, 3 and awake for the day at 5.30am.  I've got into the bad habit of feeding to sleep for his naps which i need to break, but also would love to know why he's started waking up so much at night.  He's 23 weeks old and on 4 hour feeds and being weaned due to reflux

I've posted seperately on a different board about the feeding.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Sarah

mostly I'm bumping this for you, but it would help if you could post your daily routine in EAS format.

Hi

Not always, for example last night he went to bed at 7 then he woke at 11 so I fed him he took almost a full bottle, then woke up at 5.  Which for him is fantastic, but no two nights are ever the same.  If he wakes only a few hours after he's put down then I try PUPD or just give water if its a good few hours (over 4 as he's on 4 hour EASY) then I feed as I assume he's hungry.

If he is feeding to sleep for naps then he has the exectation that he will feed to sleep, so even if sometimes he can go to sleep without being fed to sleep, his frequent waking is probably that he isn't great at going to sleep without being fed

I wish he would take a dummy as he seems to need something to help him go, he sucks my arm sometimes to help him go off which i get lovely bruises from.  But as soonas something goes in his mouth he falls straight off.  He will go down awake and self settle occasionally for naps but generally some help is needed.
