What time for bedtime?
« on: June 01, 2010, 18:27:18 pm »
Hi everyone!

These days things are much better and much more relax. My lo is 5 months old today and doing great on a 4hr routine. It is roughly as follows:

wakes up roughly at 7am
E 7.30
A 7.45 - 9.50
S 9am - nap for 1 or 1.5hours and does some more A time

E 11.30
A 11.45 - 12.50
S 13.00 - naps for 1 or 1.5 hours and then some more A time

E 15.30
A till 15.55
S 16.00 - at this time of the day if I let him go longer he will miss his nap and he tends to go on a good day for 1 hour, sometime even a bit more followed by some more A time

E 19.30

Here is where the problem starts. Till now he used to have to be in bed by 7pm otherwise he was screaming the house down. Now following the 4 hour routine he should have bedtime for 7.30 but he will still cry and cry. This is regardless if he gets a good nap after his 3.30pm feed or not. Following the routine he should be in bed for 7.30 but I wonder because he feeds then maybe I should d look at him a look for signs?. I cannot feed him at 7 as we wont take it. He is so good at going o sleep at nap times but when it come to nighttime is a different story. Mind you, once he is asleep, he is gone for the night. I still give him a DF at 11pm as that is the 5Th feed and the one that keeps him going through the night. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much!!

Is there a reason why you feed him at 7:30am rather than straight away when he wakes at 7? Especially as he has just gone 8hrs without a feed overnight. Maybe if you could feed him at 7am, 11am and 3pm then he would be hungry to feed at 7pm...? What do you think?
Do you think it might help to even up his A times and maybe begin to drop the CN? His A's seem to be 2hrs for the first followed by 2.5 or 3 for the second followed by 1.5 or 2 for the third and then about 2.5 or more for the last. I definitely would not let him sleep for more than 45 mins for that last nap of the day so that he is tired for bedtime. If you can stretch A's gradually you can drop that last CN soon and (hopefully) he will sleep for longer overnight and his other 2 naps.
